Matt Grzelcyk

Matt Grzelcyk played eight seasons for the Boston Bruins before leaving in free agency last summer to sign a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins. For the first time in his career he would finish with a negative +/- at -6 but did have career high in points with 40 due to his performance on the power play with 15 assists.

He also saw significant increase in blocked shots as he finished with 101, which was 18 more than his previous career high from the 2021-22 season. If the Kings miss out on Gavrikov and players like Lindgren and Provorov, then Grzelcyk is not a bad option that won't command a big contract.

Brian Dumoulin

The final option in free agency to replace Vladislav Gavrikov could be Brian Dumoulin, who was traded this past season from the Anaheim Ducks to the New Jersey Devils where he played 19 regular season games with a +/- of -3. However, the five playoff games were a little better with a +/- of 0, with 14 blocks, 14 hits and averaging nearly 30 minutes of ice time per game.

Dumoulin is a veteran defenseman with significant playoff experience, having won two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins in back-to-back years. He would be a similar option to Orlov in that he is an older veteran who might have only one or two seasons left, but could split the workload with Moverare on that third pair.
