Jarmo Kekalainen
Jarmo Kekalainen spent about 10 years as general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets and helped build a roster that made the playoffs five times in his tenure. However, the Blue Jackets would only advance out of the first round once, which could be a concern for Kings' fans and sounds similar to their current situation.
However, Kekalainen was a general manager who seemingly did more with less and one area which he really excelled was in the draft. This was a weakness of Rob Blake and he didn't always get the most talent out of his draft classes.
Meanwhile Kekalainen had some great draft picks, including Vladislav Gavrikov who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2015 NHL Draft. It would be interesting to see what he might be able to do with a roster that is already one of the best in the Western Conference.
