Darcy Kuemper
The Los Angeles Kings traded for Darcy Kuemper this offseason to replace Cam Talbot, who signed with the Detroit Red Wings during free agency. The former Washington Capitals goalie struggled a bit earlier this season and goalie seemed like it might be a position the Kings would have to address at the deadline.
However, since returning from injured reserve on he has been excellent as he has gone 9-0-2 with a shutout against the New Jersey Devils. In the seven starts in December, Kuemper had a save percentage of .919 and a goals against average of 2.12 and in the first two starts of January he has a save percentage of .985 and a goals against average of only 0.50.
Kuemper still has two more years on his contract after this season that carries a sizeable cap hit of $5.25 million so it would have been tough to move him at the trade deadline. The fact that he has played so well as of late, makes any idea of him being part of a trade unrealistic.
