Ethan Bear

Ethan Bear is another former player who Ken Holland saw up close as general manager of the Edmonton Oilers. He has an interesting connection to the Kings as Holland traded Bear to the Carolina Hurricanes in 2021 for Warren Foegele, who is currently on the Kings' roster.

Since the trade, he has had one year stops with the Hurricanes, Canucks and Capitals but didn't play at all last season in the NHL. Instead he spent the season in the AHL with the Hershey Bears and was one of their top players with 46 points in 62 games.

It wouldn't be surprising to see Holland and the Kings sign him to a one-year deal but in this scenario they probably add another free agent to compete for that spot.

John Klingberg

John Klingberg is another player that the Los Angeles Kings might look at, but he would be a major risk, and the Kings should have a backup plan for Klingberg ready on the roster if they go this route. The reason is that he has struggled to stay healthy the past two seasons and, in fact, has only played 25 regular-season games in total during that stretch.

The reason that the Kings and other teams around the league would be interested in Klingberg is that he looked pretty good during the playoffs for the Oilers. He played in 19 playoff games for the Oilers and averaged 19:08 of ice time in each game with four points, 32 blocks, and 24 hits.
