With NHL free agency officially opening on July 1, general manager Ken Holland and the Los Angeles Kings have their first opportunity to reshape the roster lineup through the open market this offseason.
While the Kings and Holland did address multiple long-term organizational and roster needs in the 2026 NHL Draft this past weekend, the franchise still has other opportunities to add proven and experienced players as Los Angeles looks to take another step toward contention.
Ken Holland has plenty of options as the Los Angeles Kings look to improve the roster in free agency
Some key needs the Kings could address in the roster lineup in unrestricted free agency this offseason include adding blue-line depth, proven centers, and a top-six playmaking forward. With some of the impending free agents the Kings have themselves and following the retirement of Anze Kopitar this offseason, Holland has plenty of opportunities to earn his paycheck this summer for the franchise.
Center depth will probably be a top priority for Holland and the Kings' front office in free agency this offseason, which is reflected in several of the player choices on this list.
Here are five possible free agent targets that the Kings should consider when the unrestricted market opens on July 1.
Jack Roslovic, C
If the Kings are looking for an under-the-radar free agent signing to add more offensive firepower and proven experience depth at the center position this summer, a good option could be the 30-year-old Jack Roslovic.
Roslovic could be one of the best value unrestricted free agents at the center position this summer. While getting under $2 million in average annual value on the contract he signed with the Edmonton Oilers for this past season, he scored 20 goals and over 35 total points in just 69 games played.
For a team like the Kings that could be looking for a low-risk center who can provide reliable depth and offensive production this upcoming season, Roslovic could be a valuable and cost-effective signing in free agency this summer.
