The Los Angeles Kings have not shied away from the idea that they could be Stanley Cup contenders next season. When Luc Robitaille announced Rob Blake would not be back, he said, "when on July 1st you are thinking 'what can we add to help us win a Stanley Cup?' then you are there."

That sentiment was reiterated this week when Ken Holland met with the media after being introduced as the team's new general manager. He described a team that he felt was really good and could have been one of the final four teams in the playoffs and he said he didn't want to screw up what was already built.

It sounds like Holland's focus will be adding to this core and could do this through free agency or with a trade. The new general manager also stated that he has had discussions spending right up to the salary cap for the right player, which could be an indication that they are going to make a big move.

The question now is what might that big move look like and there are a number of free agents that the LA Kings could sign that could help them achieve that Stanley Cup goal.
