January 10th at Edmonton Oilers
While this will be Corey Perry's first game as a member of the Los Angeles Kings against his former team, this is probably the one matchup that means more for the collective Kings' organization. The reason is that it was the Oilers who once again ended their season in the first round of the playoffs.
This meeting was much tougher to accept because the Kings seemed to have everything going in their favor. They would have home-ice advantage after finishing second in the Pacific Division and even got out to a 2-0 lead in the series.
However, the Oilers would make a huge comeback in the series and win the next four games to beat the Kings and advance. At this point of the season, the Kings should have a generally good idea what the expectations are and will be trying to get an early lead over their division rival.
January 20th vs. New York Rangers
The final big revenge game for the Los Angeles Kings will be 10 days later as the New York Rangers come to Crypto.com Arena. This will be the first game that Vladislav Gavrikov will be playing with the Rangers against his former team.
Gavrikov was a free agent this summer and from all reports, it seemed like the Los Angeles Kings wanted to keep him. However, they couldn't come to an agreement on a new deal for reasons that really are unknown at this point.
This will be a matchup that Gavrikov will want to show he was worth the contract he got with the Rangers, while the Kings would hopefully show they had a plan to replace the gap left in the defense by his departure.
