One of the top trade targets this offseason right now might be forward JJ Peterka with the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres are in a tough position in that they are a team that probably needs to sell but wants to sell in a way that can make them better and compete for a playoff spot next season.
The Sabres have the longest playoff drought so they need players who can help them immediately and Jordan Spence with Trevor Moore would achieve that.
While Moore had only 18 goals and 22 assists, he is a veteran forward who, two seasons ago, had 30+ goals. By adding Moore to the trade, he could replace Peterka on that top line with Tage Thompson to help minimize the impact of Peterka's absence.
Meanwhile, Jordan Spence can give the Sabres more freedom to make other moves, like trading Bowen Byram. He is another player that is reportedly available in a trade and the Sabres could trade him to improve other parts of their roster with a clear replacement in Spence.
Meanwhile, the Kings get a rising star who is only 23 years old but has over 50 goals in the past two seasons. He can be part of a young core of players the Kings are developing, with Quinton Byfield and Brandt Clarke leading the way.
