The Los Angeles Kings played their fourth straight road game and are still searching for their first win after falling to the Tampa Bay Lightning by a final score of 3-0. Even with the positive news of Drew Doughty returning against the Florida Panthers, and then playing in his second game of the season against the Lightning, it has yet to change their fortunes.
The biggest story has certainly been the scoring as they have now gone eight straight periods without a goal. They also have been shutout in back-to-back games for the first time since the 2019-20 season when they lost to the Carolina Hurricanes and Buffalo Sabres early that season.
It doesn't get any easier for the Kings as they will wrap up their road trip on Saturday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. Before that game, let's take a look at some of the takeaways from the game on Thursday night.
Los Angeles Kings have third goal waved off in four games
The Los Angeles Kings have struggled to score goals, or at the very least keep the goals on the scoreboard. After not scoring in the first period, the Kings appeared to finally get one in the net when Jacob Moverare found Quinton Byfield on a breakaway.
However, the Lightning would challenge the play and the goal would be overturned. This is something that has become all too common for the Kings as Alex Laferriere had goals overturned or waved off with one against the Detroit Red Wings, that was reviewed, and one against the Panthers, that was called off for goalie interference.
