The Los Angeles Kings continue to be one of the toughest teams in the NHL when at home as they were able to squeak out a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. It would be the Lightning who got the scoring started, just over a minute into the game with Victor Hedman beating Darcy Kuemper for a goal.
However, the Kings would be able to answer back in the period after Phillip Danault won a faceoff and pushed it back to Mikey Anderson. The Kings' defenseman wasted no time and put the puck on net and beat Andrei Vasilevskiy to tie the game up.
After that, scoring was very tough to come by for both teams as the only goal for the rest of the game was late in the third period. Alex Turcotte would use his speed to control the puck in the neutral zone and after the Lightning disrupted his shot, Turcotte dropped the puck behind him to a trailing Adrian Kempe who would give the Kings the 2-1 lead.
The Kings have now won nine straight at home and will end their five game home stand on Wednesday against the Calgary Flames. These are some takeaways and notes from the game on Saturday against the Lightning.
