JJ Peterka
The rest of the NHL is waiting to see what the Buffalo Sabres elect to do with JJ Peterka this summer. They could try to sign him to a long-term deal but if they don't feel that could happen, they might try to trade him before July 1st.
However, if neither happens before that date, there will be a lot of interest across the league to sign him to an offer sheet. Peterka is a second-round pick by the Sabres in the 2020 NHL Draft and has steadily improved every season since becoming a full-time NHL player in the 2022-23 season.
That first season he would have 32 points with 12 goals but this past season he really took a step forward with 27 goals and 41 assists to finish tied for second on the team in points with 68.
The Sabres are desperate to end their playoff drought next season so it is hard to imagine they would want to lose a player like Peterka but if he is available then the Kings should certainly consider an offer sheet. A line of Peterka, Quinton Byfield and Kevin Fiala would be an excellent second line that could bring some serious production.
