The Los Angeles Kings are fighting for playoff seeding as they are currently third in the Pacific Division but could move up depending on how the remainder of the regular season plays out. While everyone is trying to help the Kings win, for some players they are trying to make the case that they should return next season to the Kings as their contract is up after the season.

The Kings don't have many players who are unrestricted free agents that they must bring back outside of Vladislav Gavrikov. It seems both sides recognize the urgency and general manager Rob Blake said around the trade deadline that they have already begun working on a new contract.

For these other players though there is greater uncertainty and they could be playing their final games for the Los Angeles Kings over the next few months.

Trevor Lewis

Trevor Lewis was a first round pick by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2006 NHL Draft and has played 14 out of his 17 years in the NHL with the Kings. This season he reached an incredible milestone as he played in his 1,000 career NHL game.

However, the past few seasons he has been a depth forward and has averaged under 12 minutes of ice time his past two seasons with the Kings. He hasn't been much of a factor since the trade deadline as his last game was on March 5th. It wouldn't be surprising if Lewis was to retire after this season but if he wants to continue playing, it likely won't be in Los Angeles.
