It is unlikely that one of the first three players mentioned would be enough to entice the Buffalo Sabres to make a trade. However, it is hard to imagine the Kings being willing to include two of the three players listed above.
In that scenario, the Kings would need to include a player with some upside who has proven they can produce at the NHL level. If that is the case, a player like Akil Thomas could make a lot of sense as that second player in a trade package.
Thomas was a second round pick by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2018 NHL Draft and made his NHL debute last season. He would appear in seven games and had three goals but has struggled to see consistent ice time as he has played in only 22 games with one goal on the season.
He is certainly an older player considering his NHL experience being 25 years old. However, he should find more ice time with the Sabres and that could help speed up his development and be ready to be a Top 9 forward next season.
