While the ultimate goal for the LA Kings, and every team in the NHL, is to be the one to hoist the Stanley Cup there are certainly steps along the way to accomplish that. The first is to get to the playoffs, and the Kings have had no problem doing that as they have made the playoffs four straight seasons.
The challenge is getting out of the first round and that is really where the Kings need to put most of their effort and focus towards. At this point of the offseason, the roster is pretty well set and there probably won't be any big moves until during the season.
When looking at the organization, these are five Los Angeles Kings that are probably entering the season with the most pressure to deliver.
Quinton Byfield
The Los Angeles Kings didn't add a big-name free agent like Mitch Marner or even Brock Boeser. They certainly could have benefited from another playmaker alongside Adrian Kempe and now the Kings are going to be looking to Byfield to fill that void.
Byfield had another promising season where he had 23 goals and 31 assists after posting 20 goals and 35 assists the season before that. This season was notable as he moved from left wing to center and that looks to be his long-term position.
The former second overall pick will only be turning 23 before this season and still has time to develop. For this season, the question is can Byfield break that 60 point mark on the season. If he starts this season the way he finished last season, it certainly is a possibility.
