Cody Ceci

With the lack of options in free agency, the Kings might have to get creative and explore restricted free agents or even make a trade if they lose Vladislav Gavrikov. There are going to be some unrestricted free agents that might garner interest from the Kings but they should avoid, like Cody Ceci.

Ceci is a veteran defenseman who has played 871 regular-season games and is almost the opposite of Ekblad in this regard, as he has played in 78 or more games in each of the past four seasons. In fact, this season he played in 85 games after being traded at the trade deadline from the San Jose Sharks to the Dallas Stars.

Prior to joining the Sharks, Ceci played for the Edmonton Oilers and was actually a free agent of Holland, who was general manager of the Oilers at the time. If the Kings and Holland believe Ceci could be a reasonable replacement for Gavrikov, they need to go back and watch the series between the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers from a few weeks ago where he really struggled.
