Los Angeles Kings will sign one player to an offer sheet
I believe this is the year that restricted free agents generate more interest around the league and teams look to sign them to offer sheets. It is a little more complicated process in these scenarios as the original team can always match the offer sheet, and the Kings, or whichever team, would lose out on the player. If they don't match, there is usually draft pick compensation that goes back to the team.
There is no question that all the pieces have to fall into place, and the Kings would need to find a restricted free agent that would fill a need, be worth giving up draft picks for, and come from a team that doesn't have enough cap space to match or is willing to match.
One player that I could see that end up being the case for is K'Andre Miller with the New York Rangers. He is a former first round pick of the Rangers and has played in 368 games over five seasons with 132 points and a +/- of +49.
Right now, the Rangers only have around $12 million in cap space and reportedly are the favorite to sign Vladislav Gavrikov. If they were to do that, they wouldn't have the cap room to also match an offer sheet from the Kings.
