One of the biggest restricted free agents who's reportedly been shopped on the trade block this offseason is Dallas Stars standout winger Jason Robertson.
Jeff Marek reported on The Sheet on July 8 that the Pacific Division could be a potentially landing spot to watch with Robertson this offseason with the Anaheim Ducks.
Obviously, it would be a huge deal if the Kings were able to lure in a player of Robertson's caliber to the top-six forward group this offseason.
The problem for the Kings with the hypothetical idea of trading for Robertson this offseason is two fold. First, the Kings don't have the necessary cap room to make a deal happen with the Stars to get Robertson out of Dallas. The Kings would have to find a way to make a deal work while only having roughly $2 million in cap space available at this point of the offseason.
While the Kings have were searching for a top-six playmaker in free agency and on the trade block this summer, Robertson is probably too expensive for Los Angeles to make a realistic offer to Dallas.
The price of recent restricted free agent signings and offer sheets have also probably inflated the conversation surrounding Robertson's asking price for his next contract this offseason.
