Carson Soucy, D
The big 6-foot-4 and 210-pound defenseman Carson Soucy split his time between the two New York teams in this past regular season, scoring five goals and a dozen total points in 76 games played.
Soucy does have experience playing in Laviolette's system when he was traded to the New York Rangers down the stretch in the 2024-25 season. He scored one goal and three total points in 16 games played for Laviolette and the Rangers in the 2024-25 campaign on the blue line.
Soucy has a physical edge to his game, and he can play reliable minutes on the blue line, having averaged over 16.5 minutes per game for the Rangers and New York Islanders this past regular season. He wouldn't directly address the Kings' need for more puck movement on defense, but his size, defensive consistency, and familiarity with Laviolette could make him an intriguing depth option if the price tag for him in free agency is low this offseason.
He could also bring valuable postseason experience playing with multiple different teams in the Western Conference in this past decade. He would hypothetically be a low-risk signing who could compete for a role on the blue line on the opening-night roster for the Kings this upcoming season.
If the Kings aren't able to find a puck moving defenseman on the trade market or in free agency this offseason, Soucy could offer a different path to strengthen the defensive depth and experience.
