In this past couple of weeks, the Los Angeles Kings have been in the midst of trade rumors and various discussions on social media involving Detroit Red Wings center captain Dylan Larkin.

Early this offseason, reports shook the NHL with the rumor that Larkin had requested a trade from the Red Wings and Steve Yzerman.

With the retirement of center captain Anze Kopitar, the Kings need to find a new long-term solution at the position to solidify the middle of the lineup in the top-six forward lines core group up front this offseason.

If Detroit explores trading its captain, these three hypothetical packages could help bring Dylan Larkin to the Los Angeles Kings

There is no guarantee that the Red Wings will seriously explore moving Larkin on the trade block this offseason. But if he does become available in trade talks this summer, Larkin could be a very intriguing center possibility for the Kings. He brings a special combination of proven experience at the center position, scoring ability, and leadership.

The Kings are looking to also add more offensive firepower to help new head coach Peter Laviolette rejuvenate the scoring on this team going into the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Here are three possible trade packages for the Kings to get Larkin from the Red Wings this offseason.

The first hypothetical trade package on this list sees the Kings giving up defenseman prospect Henry Brzustewicz and center Alex Turcotte, along with three future second-round draft picks, in exchange for Larkin from the Red Wings.

Trading three second-round draft picks, along with Turcotte and Brzustewicz, would give Detroit a strong collection of future assets to consider on the block if the Red Wings were hypothetically open to moving their captain this offseason. This package allows the Kings to keep their top young players in the NHL while still making a competitive starting offer in trade negotiations.

Of the three trade packages on this list, this would probably be the one most likely to be a favorable outcome for the Kings. Not having to give up any major trade assets from the active roster lineup while still getting Larkin, and not having to give up any future first-round draft picks would be a major win on the trade block for Holland the Kings hypothetically this offseason.
