There are multiple possibilities theoretically that could take place this offseason on the trade block between the Kings and the defending Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes.
Two of the Canes' biggest trade rumors right now involve players that could potentially help fill various roster needs for the Kings this upcoming season.
The hottest rumor surrounding the Kings in this past couple of weeks, and really since the NHL Draft this past weekend, has been the possible trade discussions surrounding young defenseman Alexander Nikishin.
Despite the Kings having a busy free agency this summer this past week, the front office still hasn't solved the biggest need on the blue line. If the Hurricanes are willing to hear out some offers for Nikishin, he should be one of Holland's top priorities on the trade block this offseason.
Not only is it possible that the Kings trade the Hurricanes for Nikishin, but LA could also hypothetically get into discussions with Carolina for center Jesperi Kotkaniemi this offseason.
The Kings do have some future draft assets and younger players and prospects to make some intriguing offers hypothetically to the Hurricanes on the trade block this summer for a return of Nikishin and/or Kotkaniemi.
In a hypothetical world where the Kings are able to get a trade done with the Hurricanes for both Kotkaniemi and Nikishin, that would help take care of multiple roster needs in the same trade for Los Angeles at the center position and with a left-shot defenseman on the blue line.
