Los Angeles Kings with incredible resilience in the third period
The Los Angeles Kings and Columbus Blue Jackets entered the final period of regulation tied at one after a scoreless second period. For the Kings, they put immediate pressure on the Blue Jackets and were in control in the early part and Adrian Kempe as well as Kevin Fiala each had great scoring chances.
Neither would result in a goal and unfortunately for the Kings, the Blue Jackets would be able to get the puck and beat Darcy Kuemper to take a 2-1 lead. Even after giving up the goal, the Kings once again controlled the puck and created chances and it seemed like they finally caught a break with Alex Laferriere scoring a goal.
However, the goal would be called back after the Blue Jackets challenged and after review the Kings were called offsides.
Even after losing the tying goal, the Kings didn't give up and continued to put pressure on the Blue Jackets. Jim Hiller would pull Darcy Kuemper with over three minutes left and the Kings did an incredible job keeping the puck in the Blue Jackets zone until Quinton Byfield finally scored the tying goal to send it to overtime.
