Power play cost the Los Angeles Kings the win
This is not anything new for the Los Angeles Kings as the power play unit has struggled for most of the season. They are currently 29th in the NHL with a power play percentage of 15% and are 31st in power play goals with only 15.
Against the Flames, the Kings had three power play opportunities and in the first one in the first period, the power play unit looked really good. They moved the puck around and got nine shots on goal but just couldn't convert.
The other two power play opportunities were a different story and were not able to get a single shot on goal. Meanwhile, the Flames had four power play opportunities with seven shots but were able to score in the third period and that was the deciding factor.
After the game, Quinton Byfield had this to say about the power play unit for the Kings, according to Zach Dooley of LA Kings Insider.
Quinton Byfield on the LAK PP right now:

"I feel like we're there at times and at times it's super frustrating. They trust us to go out and be offensive players. In tight games, 1-1 games, we've got to be the difference so that's on us. We've got to be better on the power play."
The Los Angeles Kings certainly recognize this is something that has to improve, and the eventual return of Drew Doughty should help, but other changes will probably need to be made.
