The Los Angeles Kings were back on the ice Sunday after an impressive 7-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes the day before. For the Kings, they continued to deliver and they came away with another 7-2 win, this time over the Boston Bruins.
Based on the final score, it would seem that the Kings were in control for most of the game. However, that wasn't the case as the Bruins would score the first goal of the game only 19 seconds after the puck drop. It would also be tied at two in the second period after Morgan Geekie scored about two minutes into the period.
However, it was all Kings after that as they scored five unanswered goals. These are some of the takeaways from the game on Sunday against the Bruins.
Los Angeles Kings were smart to keep their fourth line together
Since the trade deadline, the Kings have been pretty much set with their lines after the addition of Andrei Kuzmenko. Prior to the game, Jim Hiller announced that Trevor Moore would be out with an upper-body injury and Trevor Lewis would replace him.
Earlier in the season, the Kings would have slotted Lewis on the fourth line and then moved someone up to replace Mooore. However, the fourth line has been great over the past few weeks and it was smart to not disrupt their chemistry so Lewis replace Moore next to Phillip Danault and Warren Foegele.
It definitely worked out as Tanner Jeannot and Samuel Helenius each had goals while Jeannot also had an assist. After the game, Jim Hiller had this to say about keeping the fourth line together:
"They’ve played so well together, we thought why would we take them apart. They’ve had a lot of chemistry, they add something, they’ve added something every night. They’ve scored now, but even the nights they haven’t scored, they’ve been pinning teams in their zone, they’ve been physical, they really have something going together. So yeah, that was the thought that went into that for sure."
The production on the fourth line had been a weakness of this team for most of the season but Jeannot and Helenius with Alex Turcotte have helped turn it into something the Kings can rely on.
LA Kings have no problem scoring goals right now
For the second straight night, the Los Angeles Kings have had no problem scoring goals with 14 goals scored on the weekend. This was the first time since 1995 that they have scored seven or more goals in back-to-back games and first time since 1988 that they did it in consecutive nights.
The @LAKings have scored seven goals in back-to-back games for the 17th time in history, and first since April 1 & 3, 1995. Furthermore, it’s just the third time the team had 7+ goals in consecutive calendar days following Dec. 20-21, 1988 and November 13-14, 1987 (via @NHLPR).

That team in 1988 included some all-time greats like Wayne Gretzky and Luc Robitalle but this team is doing it with their depth. They currently don't have those elite stars but have a lot of players who can contribute with seven different players scoring a goal and 16 players recording a point.
When they have this many players contributing they are going to be tough to beat.
Franchise record set with 14 straight games with a point
With the win on Sunday, the Kings set a franchise record with 14 straight games with a point and during that stretch have gone 11-0-3. The last time they lost in regulation at home was back in January when they lost 5-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
It definitely seems like the Kings are peaking at just the right time and carrying some serious momentum in the final part of the regular season.
