Patrick Roy (former New York Islanders head coach)
Former New York Islanders head coach Patrick Roy would likely represent one of the boldest and most polarizing coaching directions the Kings could pursue this offseason.
I don't know if it's too realistic to think that Holland and the Kings will potentially consider Roy a solid candidate this offseason on the coaching carousel. He was an energetic and confident head coach with the Islanders and Colorado Avalanche in this past few years, but he wasn't able to get them across the finish line in the postseason.
Roy’s intense personality and demanding coaching style could either energize the Kings or create additional pressure for a roster already facing heightened expectations after multiple first-round playoff exits.
I do think the pedigree that Roy has of proven experience coaching and developing at the junior and minor league hockey level could be valuable for the Kings, with young and developing players like defenseman Brandt Clarke, forward Quinton Byfield, and even defenseman Henry Brzustewicz, and goalie Carter George.
