In exactly one week, rookie camp will get underway for the Los Angeles Kings, ahead of the start of training camp and the preseason this fall for the 2025-26 season in the West. Kings fans will get to see some high-profile prospects and rookies for LA compete in the festivities for rookie camp and the rookie faceoff event this fall.
On Tuesday (Sep. 2), the Kings announced their roster and schedule for rookie camp and the 2025 Golden State Rookie Faceoff event.
Rookie camp begins on Sep. 10 for the Kings, and takes place over the course of a week, including games against the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks next weekend on Sep. 12 and 13.
Liam Greentree, F
The first-round draft pick of the Kings last year in the 2024 draft class, forward Liam Greentree, has a very bright future with the LA organization in the next year or so.
The Kings' top overall prospect, according to NHL.com, for this upcoming season in the development system, will compete in rookie camp and the Golden State Rookie Faceoff after he missed part of development camp earlier this offseason due to an injury. Greentree missed all of practice for the Kings' development camp earlier this summer due to a wrist injury, but he was still present at camp for the festivities for LA.
Greentree's rehab from the wrist injury over the past few months looks to be on schedule going into training camp and the preseason this fall. He's been active competing with the Windsor Spitfires training camp over the past couple of weeks in the OHL this fall.
Carter George, G
The strongest development position for the Kings in the minor league pipeline is the goaltenders.
Top goalie prospects like Carter George and Erik Portillo will be names to watch with something to prove for the Kings this fall in rookie and training camp over the next month.
George and Greentree are two of the top highlighting players for the Kings returning to the rookie camp roster after competing in the Golden State Rookie Faceoff last fall for LA. George impressed this past season with the Owen Sound Attack in the OHL and in a couple of games starting for the Ontario Reign in the AHL.
Henry Brzustewicz, D
The Kings have some intriguing early-round draft picks from the past few years in the offseason highlighting the core group on the blue line for rookie camp this fall. Defensemen Henry Brzustewicz and Jakub Dvorak were the last two blue-liners drafted in the first two rounds by the Kings' front office in the past couple of years (since the 2023 entry draft).
Brustewicz kicked off the Holland era as LA's general manager in the front office as the first defenseman picked in the first round by the former Detroit Red Wings and Oilers GM earlier this offseason. His teammate from London in the OHL last season, former Kings' sixth-round draft pick Jared Woolley, is expected to be a defensive pairing for the Kings in rookie camp and the rookie faceoff next week.
