The biggest roster need that Holland and the Kings addressed on Day 1 of unrestricted free agency this summer was adding more proven experience and depth in the middle of the lineup.
Although the Kings signed veterans Scott Laughton and Erik Haula to add to their center depth this offseason, former Edmonton Oilers and Carolina Hurricanes center Jack Roslovic would've brought a different skill set. Roslovic's speed, offensive upside, and ability to play both center and wing could've given the Kings another dynamic element in the forward group.
Like Giroux, there is familiarity between Laviolette and Roslovic from part of one season he played down the stretch with the New York Rangers in the 2023-24 campaign. Roslovic contributed to the Rangers making that deep postseason run to the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2024 postseason, scoring a couple of goals and eight total points for New York in that playoff run a couple of years ago.
Compared to some of the other wings and centers the Kings signed in free agency this summer, Roslovic would've represented more long-term offensive upside and playmaking without needing a long-term commitment on his new contract this offseason.
