LA Kings trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins for Rickard Rakell

The LA Kings improved their fourth line this summer with the signings of Corey Perry and Joel Armia but their Top 9 has remained relatively unchanged. The Kings could use an upgrade here, especially with a player who can score goals and a trade for Rickard Rakell would make sense.

Rakell is a player the Penguins have seemingly made available the past few months, as he was a popular player leading up to the trade deadline. However, no deal was completed, and he is still with the Penguins this summer.

The Penguins are still taking calls on Rakell, along with Bryan Rust, and the Kings should be one of the teams calling. Ultimately, it comes down to what the Kings could offer, and a package around Alex Turcotte could make sense. He is a former first-round pick who showed some signs of improvement this past season.

If the Kings include Trevor Moore in that trade as well, Rakell could step in on the line with Quinton Byfield while Alex Laferriere moves down to the third line with Phillip Danault.
