Bruce Cassidy (former Vegas Golden Knights head coach)

Bruce Cassidy may represent the clearest win-now coaching option available to the Kings this offseason. Cassidy’s defensive structure, postseason experience, and Stanley Cup résumé would make him an obvious fit for a Kings team still trying to take the next step in the Western Conference.

Multiple teams have shown interest around the league in Cassidy early this offseason, including the Kings, Oilers, and potentially even the Toronto Maple Leafs in the East.

As of earlier this week, the Golden Knights have not allowed the Kings' permission to interview Cassidy on the coaching carousel.

Cassidy has consistently coached structured teams capable of applying offensive pressure without sacrificing defensive-zone discipline. That combination could make him an especially attractive fit for a Kings team still trying to evolve into a legitimate Stanley Cup contender.

Hiring Cassidy would signal that the Kings still view themselves as a legitimate win-now team capable of competing near the top of the Western Conference.
