This upcoming offseason will be important to the future of the franchise for the Los Angeles Kings in the summer. In this past five years in the West, the Kings have made the postseason in the playoffs without making a deep run in the spring.
There will be more realistic options for the Kings and general manager Ken Holland in the front office to upgrade the talent and depth in the active roster lineup in the zone this upcoming offseason via free agency in the next upcoming couple of months. But big headliner trades involving big splash pieces on the trade block this upcoming offseason are always worth monitoring in the league.
These moves are pretty unlikely for the Kings to happen I do want to say, but LA does have the assets and cap room on the salary cap sheet necessary to make a big move on the block this upcoming summer in the offseason. Most of the names on this list will be longshots on the block and this upcoming offseason on the trade open market for the Kings and Holland in the front office.
But if the right situation surfaces for the Kings this upcoming offseason in the next couple of months where something changes, the Kings could be one of the more adept teams to creep into this type of conversation in the league in the NHL.
Here are three potential longshot superstar trade targets for the Kings to kick the tires on this upcoming offseason in the summer of 2026.
Brady Tkachuk, F
The Ottawa Senators exited the first round of the postseason in the playoffs this spring this past month vs. the Carolina Hurricanes.
While there hasn't been many indications publicly reported in this past couple of weeks that the Senators want to trade their captain, the early playoff exits can spark more uncertainty and questions about the direction of the franchise going into the offseason in the East. That conversation is especially true when superstar players are involved.
That does not mean that power forward Brady Tkachuk is actively available on the block early this offseason in this upcoming next couple of months. In reality, franchise-caliber power forwards rarely hit the trade market.
However, if the Kings were searching for a true game-changing addition to their top six core forward lines group up front, few players around the NHL would fit the identity Los Angeles is trying to build better than Tkachuk in the active roster lineup.
Tkachuk is a proven physical playmaker and goal scorer in the zone offensively with the Senators in the East in this past few years in the 2020s decade in Ottawa.
