Since the Los Angeles Kings and head coach Jim Hiller won their first three preseason games, the way that the team has played this past week generated buzz among the younger players in the organization this fall in training camp. The Kings have multiple game-winning goals scored by younger prospects and players battling for roster spots on the opening-night roster this fall.
The future looks bright for some of the top Los Angeles Kings prospects and young players
Here's a look at three Kings players among the young prospects and those battling for a roster spot for opening night in training camp and the preseason this fall.
Jeff Malott, W
No Kings' player has a hotter hand in the offensive zone early this preseason and in training camp this fall than forward Jeff Malott. He's getting a lot of praise and attention right now for the Kings for how well he's played on the ice during training camp and the preseason this fall.
Malott came into training camp and the preseason this fall with the attitude that he was ready to battle for a roster spot and compete at the highest level.
"When you're getting a call each game like this, and we'll see how the rest of camp goes like this. But with each one that your number is called, do the thoughts of, you know, hey, I'm getting a real serious, serious look here go through your head. That's all you ask for. That's all you ask for is an opportunity."Jeff Malott
This past Wednesday against the Ducks, Malott scored the insurance goal and assisted winger Martin Chromiak on the eventual game-winning goal. Malott also registered the game-winning goal for the Kings in a clutch 3-1 comeback win over the Vegas Golden Knights in the front end of back-to-back games at T-Mobile Arena on Sep. 23.
Carter George, G
Kings' top goalie prospect Carter George played one game with LA and Hiller in the preseason, and he played in the Golden State Rookie Faceoff with the team a couple of weeks ago this fall.
George was amazing in net in his preseason debut for the Kings this past weekend against the Ducks in the Empire Classic in the preseason opener on Sunday afternoon. He stopped 26 of 27 shots and made multiple highlight-reel saves in a close 3-1 win over the Ducks last weekend.
"You just have confidence when he’s in net, that’s the bottom line, it just looks like he’s going to save it, it never looks like he’s in a lot of danger. I don’t know what more to say about him. But when he makes the coach confident, that’s usually a pretty good thing if you’re the goalie."Jim Hiller on Carter George

The Kings returned George to the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack earlier this week after the stellar start he had for LA in the preseason opener against the Ducks last weekend.
He continued to shine with his play on the ice in net with a brilliant performance in his first start back with the Sound Attack in the OHL in a close 2-1 shootout win over the Barrie Colts late this week.
Henry Brzustewicz, D
Yesterday, the Kings announced the team was returning defensive prospects Jared Woolley and Henry Brzustewicz to the OHL with the London Knights on Sep. 25. This comes after Brzustewicz and Woolley had solid showings in training camp and the preseason for the Kings this fall.
"What I really liked is, much like our team, the third period was his best period. It was different, a higher level and he had the hockey sense. We were just talking in the room, he pounded a couple into the pads on the offensive blue line then he went off the end wall, so you can see he’s got a real keen and offensive hockey sense."Jim Hiller on Henry Brzustewicz
Brzustewicz and Woolley both turned heads while playing in the rookie faceoff a couple of weeks ago for the Kings. They also each played in one preseason game this fall for Hiller and the Kings this past week.
