3 LA Kings trade candidates who could create more cap space

If the LA Kings pursue another major addition this offseason, creating cap space may have to come first.

For this past couple of years, winger Trevor Moore has been a regular subject of trade discussions and speculation in the media and on social media.

Among the forwards who do have a significant cap hit, but also have movable contracts on the trade block this offseason, Moore is probably a candidate who the Kings could have some interest from other teams in hypothetical discussions this summer.

Between his ability to move the puck up the ice with his vision and insane speed and his ability to contribute on special teams on the power play and the penalty kill, Moore still could hypothetically carry a good bit of value on the trade block for the Kings this offseason.

Moore has two years remaining on his current contract, which pays him $4.2 million in average annual value through the end of the 2027-28 season. Given the asking price of some of the other contracts we've seen signed in free agency this offseason, Moore's cap hit of a little over $4 million for two more years isn't all that bad in retrospect for other teams on the trade block.

Another benefactor that Moore has in hypothetical trade discussions this offseason is the fact that he doesn't have any no-move clauses on his current contract. The Kings would have the flexibility to get into trade discussions with any team in the league theoretically if they wanted to explore moving Moore on the block.
