The Los Angeles Kings have been fortunate to have Anze Kopitar skating for them for the past two decades. He has been a part of some of their best seasons, including two Stanley Cups.

The fact that he has played for the Kings for as long as he has, Kopitar has already secured a number of franchise records. Now that he is retiring after the season, he has one more season to add to some of those records.

These are a few franchise records that he already owns, and the current record entering this season that he will be able to add to.

Games Played for the Los Angeles Kings: 1,454

He will be playing in his 20th season with the Kings and has shown in his career to be incredibly durable. In the 19 seasons, he has played in 80 or more games in 12 of them and that includes the last four.

Entering this season, Kopitar has 158 more games than the next player, which is Dustin Brown. It will be a record that he is going to hold for a very long time as there is no active players who have more than 750 games with the Kings.

Assists: 838

During the 2023-24 season, Kopitar would pass Marcel Dionne for the most career assists. He finished his career with 757 and Kopitar has only been building on that lead with currently 838 assists.

Similar to games, Kopitar has been incredibly consistent in this category with 40 or more assists in 15 seasons. He also has never had fewer than 32, which was his career low in 2012-13 but that season he played in only 47 games.

Among active players, Drew Doughty is the next closest player but he currently has only 526 career assists.

Game-Winning Goals: 78

This past season, Kopitar secured this record as he had seven on the season and passed Luc Robitaille, who had 73 game-winning goals in his career. Unlike some of the other records, this is something he has gotten better at later in his career as he has had 30 in the last six seasons.

Of the records on this list, this is the one that might be broken the soonest, with Adrian Kempe already having 32. If Kempe were to sign an extension that keeps him in Los Angeles for the next seven or eight seasons, it is possible he could catch Kopitar.

It has been an incredible career for Anze Kopitar and he hopefully will be able to end it on a high note with the Los Angeles Kings.
