Late this past weekend, the Los Angeles Kings finished off the week with more roster moves with the AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign, this fall. Amid the middle stages of training camp and the preseason for the Kings and head coach Jim Hiller this fall, LA assigned a few more players to the AHL to cut down the training camp roster further, going into the final full week of the preseason schedule for the team.
Kenta Isogai, Jack Hughes, and Jacob Doty will report to training camp for the Ontario Reign early this week
The Kings reportedly assigned three players to the AHL with the Reign early this week, including three forwards. The three players the Kings assigned to the Reign on Sep. 28 were winger Kenta Isogai, forward Jacob Doty, and forward Jack Hughes.
This news comes as the Reign are set to open up AHL training camp this fall in the coming days early this week. It sounds like it wouldn't be surprising to see more Kings' players on the training camp roster this fall assigned to the AHL in the next few days early this week as camp and practice opens for the Reign on Sep. 29.
All three players, including Isogai, Hughes, and Doty, will report to the Toyota Sports Performance Center for the start of training camp for the Reign this fall in the AHL on Monday (Sep. 29).
Hughes and Isogai played both games for the Kings in the 2025 Golden State Rookie Faceoff a few weeks ago this fall in rookie camp. None of the three forwards assigned to the Reign this week for training camp played in a game for the Kings in the preseason this fall.
Isogai, Hughes, and Doty are all signed to AHL contracts going into the upcoming 2025-26 season for the Reign in Ontario.
The Reign will host the San Diego Gulls in the only preseason game Ontario plays this fall before the start of the upcoming 2025-26 regular season in the AHL, on Oct. 5 at Toyota Arena.
