Injuries have hurt the Los Angeles Kings early this fall in the regular season in the past couple of weeks. The Kings have been missing a few key veteran players due to lower-body injuries in the past couple of games early this regular season.
Anze Kopitar and Darcy Kuemper among the Los Angeles Kings players reportedly set to travel with the team this week
In the past week or so, captain center Anze Kopitar and starting goalie Darcy Kuemper have both missed a couple of games for the Kings due to lower-body injury issues they suffered in the shootout loss this past Monday to the Minnesota Wild on the road.
Kopitar suffered an ankle injury in the 4-3 shootout loss to Minnesota this past week. Kuemper also suffered an undisclosed injury to the lower-body in the loss to Minnesota for the Kings last week.
Kings fans got a positive injury update on Monday to start the week before the road trip against five quality teams from the Western Conference over the next couple of weeks.
Zach Dooley of LA Kings Insider reported on Oct. 20 that the Kings and Hiller had a full team leaving on the plane for the upcoming five-game road trip starting this week on Tuesday night (Oct. 21) against the St. Louis Blues.
The four injured Kings players who are joining the team on the plane for the upcoming Western Conference road trip this week includes Kopitar, Kuemper, defenseman Kyle Burroughs, and veteran winger Corey Perry.
Burroughs hasn't seen any action for the Kings this fall in the regular season. He suffered an injury in the preseason last month for the Kings. Burroughs is reportedly still skating in the non-contact jersey in team practice for the Kings in mid-October.
Perry suffered a knee injury in an on-ice skate for the team a couple of months ago in August. He got back on the ice with the team at practice last week in a non-contact jersey.
If the Kings can get Kuemper and Kopitar back in the lineup at some point during the upcoming Western-Conference road trip in the next couple of weeks, that would put the team back at 23 healthy players on the active roster this fall.
