For the first time this regular season this fall, the Los Angeles Kings are on the road for a multi-game road trip against the Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre north of the border in Canada on Saturday morning (Oct. 11). The Kings are set to face the Jets for the first time this regular season after sweeping the season series vs. Winnipeg this past year in the 24-25 season.
Captain Adam Lowry among the prominent injured Jets players going into the matchup against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday
The Jets and Kings both already played their home openers to introduce their teams to the fans on home ice this regular season earlier this week. The Kings split their first two regular season games, against the Colorado Avalanche at home in a regulation 4-1 defeat on Tuesday night, and a thrilling 6-5 shootout victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday (Oct. 8).
Injuries will impact both teams in terms of who will be in the lineup on the active rosters for each head coach this morning in this first contest between the Kings and Jets this weekend on Saturday.
Here are three key injury updates for the Jets going into the first matchup of the regular season this fall against the Kings in Winnipeg at Canada Life Centre on Oct. 11 at 10:30 a.m. PT.
Adam Lowry, C
The Winnipeg Jets captain, Adam Lowry, has participated in rehab and team skates for the past few weeks since training camp and preseason practice in early-to-mid September last month. There hasn't been a concrete status update regarding Lowry's injury status with the hip issue he's been dealing with since this past season, per The Hockey News.
Lowry is expected to be out for at least the regular season's first few weeks after having hip surgery this past offseason in the spring back in late May 2025. The 32-year-old two-way center is one of the NHL's most versatile and balanced forwards in the Western Conference, having scored 30+ points in three straight seasons for Winnipeg (since the 2022-23 season).
This past regular season, Lowry scored 16 goals and 34 total points, including a career-high four-game winning goals in the West for the Jets.
Cole Perfetti, C
Center Cole Perfetti is among the Jets' most promising young up-and-coming players on the roster this fall in the regular season. He missed some of the preseason for the Jets after suffering an unfortunate ankle injury against the Calgary Flames a couple of weeks ago in early October (Oct. 3).
Jets' head coach Scott Arniel said this past week on Oct. 4 that Perfetti's injury status is listed as "week-to-week".
Perfetti scored a career-high 50 total points and 18 goals for the Jets this past regular season, including a career-high five power play goals on special teams for Winnipeg.
Dylan Samberg, D
Against the Flames a few weeks ago this preseason this fall, Jets' defenseman Dylan Samberg suffered a broken wrist injury against Calgary on a hit by forward Ryan Lomberg. The Jets had to move defensemen Logan Stanley and Colin Miller into the lineup (Miller was scratched in the season opener earlier this week for Winnipeg) due to the wrist injury Samberg suffered last week in the preseason vs. Calgary on the hit from Lomberg.
Samberg led the Jets' blue line this past season on defense in plus/minus rating (+34), blocked shots (120), and takeaways (33).
