Kailer Yamamoto
The final would be a low-risk, high-reward type move that if it worked out would be a great addition to this offense. Kailer Yamamoto was a first round pick by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2017 NHL Draft and had a breakout season in 2021-22 with 20 goals and 21 assists.
However, since that season he hasn't made the same impact and recently signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Utah Hockey Club. He played only 12 games for Utah with two goals but what he did at the AHL level is why the Kings should consider signing him.
In 54 games he had 20 goals and 36 assists and showed flashes of what he did in that one season with the Edmonton Oilers. He will only be turning 27 this season and while he is smaller at 5'9" and 178 pounds, he could give the Kings some scoring.
If the Kings sign one of the top free agents and then bring back Gavrikov with what is expected to be a big contract, they will need to find some bargains to fill out the roster and this is one move that would fall into the category with high upside.
