Trading for Jonathan Huberdeau would likely represent one of the boldest moves the Kings could consider this offseason.

I would presume that any trade interest Huberdeau gets on the block from the Flames this offseason would include Calgary eating a good portion of the remaining salary on his current contract, which pays him north of $10 million in average annual value through the end of the 2031-32 season.

Huberdeau will be 38 years old at the end of his current contract. The long-term financial commitment and potential decline risk would almost certainly make the contract one of the biggest concerns for Los Angeles.

He also brings significant postseason experience after multiple deep playoff runs during his time with the Florida Panthers.

Despite the obvious contract concerns, Huberdeau could still intrigue the Kings because of his offensive playmaking ability and top-line scoring upside. Los Angeles has struggled to generate enough consistent offensive creativity in recent postseasons, and Huberdeau’s skill set could help address part of that issue.

Any potential deal would almost certainly require Calgary to retain significant salary, but if the Flames truly become aggressive sellers, Huberdeau could emerge as one of the more fascinating high-risk options available this offseason.
