Boone Jenner
In this past few months, Boone Jenner quietly emerged as a potential trade candidate around the deadline earlier this season as the Columbus Blue Jackets fought to remain in the playoff race. Jenner has spent his entire NHL career in Columbus and played more than 800 games with the organization, making it somewhat difficult to imagine him wearing another uniform
However, with the Blue Jackets continuing to reshape portions of their roster and recently committing long-term to veteran center Charlie Coyle, speculation surrounding Jenner’s long-term future could continue growing this offseason.
From the Kings' perspective in free agency, Jenner could be one of the more realistic veteran center targets available. The type of physicality, proven experience, leadership in the locker room, and ability to contribute in multiple situations on both ends of the ice would give the Kings more versatility, depth, and stability in the middle of the ice.
I think the biggest concern for the Kings would likely involve Jenner’s long-term offensive ceiling as he enters the later stages of his career.
