Los Angeles Kings offer Alex Laferriere and a 2026 fourth round pick for Bowen Byram
While the Sabres are trying to figure out what to do with their top restricted free agent, the Kings are in a similar situation with Alex Laferriere. The Kings' forward is set to be a restricted free agent and improved almost across the board this past season, with 42 points after 23 points in 81 games during the 2023-24 season.
For the Sabres, depending what other moves they make this offseason, Laferriere is talented enough to play on the top line with someone like Tage Thompson. He has had his second 40+ goal season in three years but needs help around him so adding Laferriere makes sense.
In addition, the Kings could send a fourth-round pick as part of the deal that the Sabres could use in another trade to help improve their NHL roster.
The only challenge with this is that both teams would need to reach agreements with the respective restricted free agents. If negotiations don't go well, with either player, then this is a trade that wouldn't work.
