It's a pretty easy process to name the best couple of Los Angeles Kings goaltenders in franchise history. The all-time leader in franchise wins and the two-time Stanley Cup Champion, Jonathan Quick, tops most all-time lists of best LA goaltenders.

Multiple starting goalies have vied for All-Star nods from the Los Angeles Kings in the past quarter century since 2000

Quick started over 700 career regular season games and had over 50 career shutouts for the Kings over the span of more than a decade playing in LA.

The conversation about the other best goalies in recent memory since the turn of the century for the Kings is where this discussion can really begin.

Darcy Kuemper (2018, 2024-Present)

Among the biggest x-factors that emerged for the Kings this past season in net was the consistent play of veteran Darcy Kuemper. Having a rebound season in his first full campaign as the Kings' starting goalie in 2024-25, Kuemper was a force in net for LA after coming over to the West Coast in a trade from the Washington Capitals last offseason.

Kuemper ranked sixth in the NHL this past season in goals saved above expected (per Money Puck). He helped guide the Kings to its second 100-point season in the past three years in the Pacific Division.

After a rough season in Washington in the 2023-24 campaign, Kuemper bounced back with a career-high five shutouts and a sparkling 2.02 goals against average. He was a rock in net, leading the Kings to over 30 wins in just over 50 starts this past regular season.

Jonathan Quick (2008-2023)

It goes without saying that likely future Hall-of-Fame netminder Quick is a shoo-in to be considered the top Kings' goalie since the turn of the century in LA. Quick is not only the sole goaltender in Kings' franchise history to win multiple Stanley Cups, but he is also the only one to win the Conn Smythe and the Jennings Trophy.

He finished in the top five in Vezina Trophy voting for the best goaltender in the NHL three times, and was a multi-time All-Star selection for the Kings in the 2010s.

Quick essentially holds all the major franchise regular season and postseason goaltending records. He leads the Kings franchise in all-time regular season wins (370), shutouts (57), quality starts (389), and goals against average (2.46) among regular starters.

It's crazy to think that Quick only got better in the postseason with the Kings over the past couple of decades. He has a career .921 postseason save percentage, double-digit playoff shutouts, and a 2.31 goals against average.

Felix Potvin (2001-2003)

For a few years in the early 2000s, veteran netminder Felix Potvin was a reliable and consistent backstop for the Kings in the regular season and the postseason. Potvin not only registered double-digit shutouts with the Kings in the early 2000s, but he also finished in the top 10 of the Vezina Trophy voting in the 2001-02 campaign in the NHL.

Potvin was an established veteran in net when he joined the Kings via a trade with the Western Conference foe Vancouver Canucks. He had over 200 career regular season starts and was a multi-time All-Star selection in the 1990s in the previous decade.

He helped the Kings upset the Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the playoffs in the West in the 2001 postseason.
