On January 6, 2023, Brandt Clarke was reassigned to the Barrie Colts of the OHL. As one of the top prospects in the Los Angeles Kings organization, it is no surprise that the 20-year old right-handed defenseman is tearing it up in the juniors. In 27 games with the Colts, Clarke has 16 goals and 32 assists, which is good enough for 48 points, as a defenseman.

His crazy stat line is not only impressive for a defenseman, but for all skaters. EliteProspects’ Cam Robinson said that his production propelled him to the top of the OHL leaderboards ahead of all skaters.

With those kind of numbers in such a short amount of time on the team, all of the points have to come in bunches, and they have. Right now, Brandt Clarke is on a 12-game point streak with his latest outing coming against the Sudbury Wolves, in which he had 2 assists in a 5-2 Colts win.

The next time he takes the ice is in two days on March 15th against the Mississauga Steelheads, where he will put his point streak on the line.

Right now, there is no timetable on his return back to the American Hockey League or the NHL, but it is exciting to see such high production out of a prospect who was almost used as the centerpiece for the Jakob Chychrun trade. It seems like Rob Blake made the right decision in holding onto the former first-round pick.

Clarke is currently signed to a three-year contract, worth $5.3 million dollars. While he is in the juniors, he is making $10,500 dollars, per CapFriendly.
