Unlike last year, the LA Kings could have just one player representing Team USA in the 2022 World Juniors. Brock Faber was one of 44 players invited to the 2021 World Junior Summer Showcase set to take place between July 24 and July 31 in Plymouth, Michigan.
Team Finland and Sweden will also be joining Team USA at the USA Hockey Arena.
Faber, Alex Turcotte, and Arthur Kaliyev played in last year’s tournament, with Turcotte potting the Golden Goal for Team USA. Faber, a second-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, had a standout performance, recording five assists in seven games.
It took just one game for Team USA head coach Nate Leaman to promote the young defenseman to the second pairing with Flyers’ draft pick, Cam York.
“I really like his feet, and I really like his strength,” Leaman said of Faber. “He has a body type where he’s very strong from the knees to his torso, and his feet are pretty elite. Then his ability to gap guys and his ability to recover and his ability to make up space.”
The IIHF World Juniors are set to occur between December 26, 2021, culminating with the gold medal game on January 5, 2022. Here is the full 44-man roster.
