The second overall pick in the 2019 OHL Draft, Brenna Othmann would be a really unique selection for the LA Kings in the 2021 NHL Draft. It feels like whenever he’s within 5 feet of the net, the puck seems to find his stick. He’s a physical winger who can score goals in bunches, something the Kings sorely need.
Like a lot of OHL players, Othmann was left to find another place to play this season. He was loaned to the Swiss League, and the 18-year-old tallied 16 points in 34 games against grown men. In the playoffs, he also chipped in a goal and an assist in four games.
Despite playing in 12 fewer games than his teammates, Othmann finished seventh on the team in points. Interestingly, though, he finished with the third-most penalty minutes, upping his physicality against older players.
The Scarborough, Ontario native, recently wrapped up play at the U18s, helping Team Canada win gold while tallying three goals and six points in seven games.
