While the LA Kings continue to struggle, silver linings can be tough to find. Trevor Moore, though, has been just that this season.

There isn’t much to be upbeat about these days if you’re a fan of the LA Kings.

Having won just three of their last 12 games, the playoff picture for the Kings is getting blurrier by the day, so to speak. In a time like this, however, it is that much more critical to focus on the (pun intended) silver linings.

Forward Trevor Moore has fit this bill for the Kings all season long. Most recently, albeit in a losing effort, the native of nearby Thousand Oaks scored both Kings’ goals on Wednesday night against Vegas. Still, the 26-year-old has been rewarded for his hard work as of late, which includes increased ice time over his last few outings.

Following Wednesday night’s loss to Vegas, Moore was asked if he feels good about his increased ice time as well as touching on his overall play as of late.

“Yeah, of course,” he said. “I think, you know, it’s what you work for. You want to earn that kind of thing and, you know, I think the last couple of games, I hadn’t really been that great with that opportunity. So, I just want to make good on the opportunity and show that I’m appreciative of it, and just keep pushing forward.”

While his scoring may not be consistent — seven goals and 11 assists in 42 games this season — Moore has definitely earned his keep on the defensive side.

In 2020-21 thus far, Moore, while surrendering 13 giveaways, has made up for that by committing 11 takeaways. Even his 5-foot-10, 185-pound frame is, more or less, a moot point as he has registered 29 hits in 2021.

For Moore and company, though, the road does not get any easier as they travel to Denver this weekend to take on the division-leading Colorado Avalanche.

The University of Denver alum addressed what he and the Kings need to do to get back in the win column.

“I think just working on our tracks and making sure guys aren’t getting behind us,” Moore noted. “Just our sort-outs coming back to the zone have to be a lot better. We have to help our goalies out. I mean, our goalies have been great all year and we can’t be letting these odd-man rushes [happen] and giving them free looks.”

Overall, it’s been a rough go for the LA Kings as of late. Amidst their struggles, though, the team can take solace knowing that they can count on Trevor Moore for regular contributions, whether it’d be offensive, defensively, or physically.

Now is as a good a time as any to focus on those silver-linings, and the Kings certainly have one with Trevor Moore.
