An update of the LA Kings prospects for the week of April 5

LA Kings 2020 third-round pick Alex Laferriere had one of the strangest games that I’ve seen. In Des Moines’ 4-1 loss to Sioux City on Friday, the 19-year-old forward scored his 22nd goal of the season at the 17:39 mark of the second period. Prior to that, he was sent to the box at the 15:04 mark of the first period for holding and received a ten-minute misconduct penalty as the first period expired.

Before he scored the goal, Laferriere was called for roughing at the 15:11 mark of the middle frame, so he had 14 minutes in penalties, all before scoring Des Moines’ only goal of the evening.

Here’s what the rest of the Kings’ prospects were up to last week.

  • Jordan Spence: No games
  • Kim Nousiainen: 0 points in two games but registered 10 SOQ and 4 PIM
  • Lias Andersson: 1 goal, 1 assist in three games last week, and 7 SOG
  • Braden Doyle: 0 points in three games. 2 PIM, and a combined -2 rating with 0 SOG
  • Martin Chromiak: 0 points in three games last week
  • Quinton Byfield: 1 goal in two games last week. Took a nasty spill into the sideboards in the 4-2 win over San Diego on Wednesday, but it appears he’ll be just fine.
  • Arthur Kaliyev: 1 assist in three games last week. A combined 2 PIM and 6 SOG.
  • Rasmus Kupari: 1 goal and 1 assist in three games last week. Kupari has points in three of his last five games after a three-game scoreless streak.
  • Akil Thomas: 0 points in three games last week for Thomas, but he had 9 SOG.
  • Kasper Simontaival: The LA Kings 2020 third-round pick tallied his third goal of the season for Tappara on Saturday. In two games last week, he had 5 SOG.
  • Sean Durzi: 0 points in 2 games for Durzi last week. He had a rough outing on Tuesday, registering a -3. He had 5 SOG, though.
  • Helge Grans: 1 assist in 1 game for Malmo last week. Grans logged 18:17 TOI.

  • Boko Imama: 1 goal in 3 games last week for Ontario. Imama scored in the Reign’s 4-2 win over San Diego on Wednesday while also logging 7 PIM.  He had another memorable fight.
  • Aidan Dudas: 2 assists in 3 games for Dudas to go along with an aggregate -3 rating and 3 SOG.
  • Mikey Eyssimont: The 24-year-old had 1 assist in 3 games, including 5 SOG.
  • Daniel Brickley: 0 goals in 3 games.
  • Cole Hults: 0 points in 2 games for Ontario. Hults was injured in Wednesday’s contest, and he’s listed as week-to-week.
  • Matt Luff: 3 goals in 3 games for Luff last week. He’s been on fire since the demotion to Ontario, logging points in 3-of-4 games to go along with 20 SOG.
  • Mark Alt: 1 goal in 2 games last week.
  • Austin Strand: Strand scored the only goal for Ontario on Sunday.
  • Christian Wolanin: 3 assists in 2 games for Ontario last week. Wolanin was promoted to the NHL roster for the Sharks series, logging just 1 SOG and a +1 rating.
  • David Hrenak: Helped St. Cloud State reached the Frozen Four Championship game on Saturday, but he allowed 5 goals in the loss.
  • Lukas Parik: Parik played in 3 straight games this week, allowing 4, 1, and 2 goals. He earned the win on Saturday, stopping 32-of-34 SOG.
  • Juho Markkanen: Allowed 7 goals in SaiPa’s 7-2 loss on Saturday.
  • Matt Villalta: Villalta has really struggled this season with Ontario. In 2 games this week, he allowed 5 goals in both contests. He’s allowed a combined 17 goals over his last 3 games.
