LA Kings prospect David Hrenak, St. Cloud State knocked off #4 Denver with a strong performance in net. Hrenak saved 30-of-33 shots.

St. Cloud State moved to 2-0 on the season on Saturday, knocking off #4 Denver. The Huskies were a few votes short of being ranked within NCAA’s top-20. With the win, they’ll surely be ranked next week. And they got a strong performance in net from LA Kings prospect David Hrenak.

St. Cloud scored just 33 seconds into the game, and Denver responded with two power play goals. Hrenak was completely screened on Denver’s first goal of the game, but he made an outstanding save on Cole Guttman’s breakaway attempt. Trailing 2-1, St. Cloud State responded with three straight goals.

Nolan Walker put the game on ice for the Huskies at the 11:41 mark in the third period. The Huskies riddled themselves with penalties all night long, killing off a 5-on-3 power play to secure the monumental win.

Hrenak stopped 30-of-33 shots on net while pushing St. Cloud State to a perfect 8-0-0 record all-time at Baxter Arena. Drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Draft, Hrenak is in his third season at St. Cloud State. He logged matching seasons with a .906 save percentage, including a 23-5-2 record as a true freshman.

Hrenak and the Huskies will face Omaha on Sunday.
