LA Kings: Helge Grans scores in first game after being drafted (video)
Not long after being drafted in the second round by the LA Kings, Helge Grans has scored a goal. Here’s the video highlight.
What a way to get LA Kings’ fans excited. Helge Grans was selected with the 35th overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft. He is currently playing for the Malmo Redhawks of the SHL and had a goal and an assist under his belt in only three games.
Now he adds another goal to his total.
Grans starts at the top left of the screen with Malmo on the power play. He dishes it off, and darts towards the net in preparation for any rebounds. And sure enough, he was in the right place at the right time, firing a one-timer into the back of the net.
The 18-year-old was looking to build off a 4-goal, 23-assist performance in 27 games a year ago with Malmo, and he’s on a good pace to do so. The newest Kings’ defenseman stands at 6-foot-3, 192 pounds, and he’ll only get bigger as he physically matures.
He was one of our steals in this draft with many mock drafts having him selected at the end of the first round. With the Kings’ defenseman prospects not as deep as their forwards, Grans and Brock Faber are hoping to change that narrative.
Good goal for Helge here.
