Los Angeles Kings Head Coach Darryl Sutter Selected to Coach 2015 All-Star Game in Columbus
Los Angeles Kings head coach Darryl Sutter has been chosen to serve as a coach of the 2015 NHL All-Star game in Columbus.
According to Kings.com the All-Star selection process for coaches is based on the number of points a team has earned. The two NHL head coaches with the highest points percentage, or points earned divided by total points available in games played, by January 10th are selected to coach in the All-Star game.

January 10th was selected because it is considered the halfway point of the season.
The Kings are 19-13-9 in 41 games. L.A. has 47 points in the standings, sitting in 4th place in the Pacific Division and tie for 7th place in the Western Conference.
This year is Sutter’s fourth year and third full season as head coach of the Kings. Sutter joined the team after being hired on December 17th, 2011; half-way through the 2011-2012 season, after then head coach Terry Murray was fired.
Sutter will coach opposite Nashville Predators head coach Peter Laviolette.
It will be Laviolette’s second All-Star game, having coached in 2011 for Team Nicklas Lindstrom in an 11-10 victory over Team Eric Staal.
Sutter will be making his first appearance at the reigns of an NHL All-Star team.
All-Star weekend is January 24th and 25th. The Skills Competition will kick things off on Saturday the 24th, at 4:00 p.m. PST. The All-Star game will follow on Sunday the 25th, with puck-drop scheduled for 2:00 p.m. PST.
It will be the first All-Star game played in Columbus, Ohio.
