“We love the game of hockey, we love to share and we love to play with more people.” Robitaille said. He then thanked the NHL, fans and the 49ers franchise.
“Joe Montana was my favorite player so to have the 49ers involved is pretty neat.” Robitaille said with a chuckle and a smile.

This will be the second outdoor game the Kings are involved in two years. Last season the Kings hosted the Anaheim Ducks at Dodger Stadium. The Ducks emerged victorious 3-0. Throughout the game temperatures ranged from 62-59 degrees Fahrenheit. There was a beach volleyball court set up to the left of the rink, for fans to enjoy during intermission.
As they said, “The Countdown is on.” The 2014 Stadium Series game will take place 143 days from today. It’s an exciting time for hockey in California with a second outdoor game in two years. The game is sure to be a “cool” site in Santa Clara.
