LAkingsinsider.com and CBS sports.com revealed this morning that the Los Angeles Kings are going to reach to the past for their legends nights next season. This season for the three legends nights (including tonight against the Leafs, which will honor Jim Fox) the Kings have been sporting the mainly purple jerseys with gold trim.
They will be bringing back the classic primarily Gold with Purple trim for a number of games in the 2014-15 season.
These uniforms go back to a time where not every team had similar color schemes, and the Purple and Gold made the Kings stand out in the crowd.
The Kings also don’t plan to overexpose the jersey, according to Luc Robitaille, instead
"I’d prefer just having it three, four times a year and making it special.- Luc Robitaille, President of Business Operations and Hockey Hall of Famer"
The uniforms are similar to the ones the Kings used in their first 3 seasons, from 1967-1970, including the jeweled crown as the primary logo.
You can expect the first time the Kings wear the new old jerseys to be in the middle of December 2014 because of the length of time it takes to get the approval and have the uniforms made by Reebok.
